I believe that all spiritual practices have, at some point in their development, looked to the mortification of the flesh, to service, to slavery ad submission as vital aspects of their pillars. Whether the mortification of the flesh is actual flogging, or the deprivations of fasting, or pilgrimages, this is a common theme. And universal. Whether the submission or slavery is to god, or to a spouse, or to the church, or to the practice, all of these things are nestled in spiritual and religious practices since they first were developed and took root. So, yeah. I do.
